Nooks and Crannies is a series we are starting to help people learn how somethings need to be cleaned that you may not be aware of. We all have appliances and today we will be diving into how to properly clean up and out the dishwasher.
First thing we need to do is remove any/all dishes from the dishwasher. Now we need to remove the bottom rack and clean this with a green clean product and a scrubbing pad. Set the rack aside and we will continue to clean up the dishwasher
Now I for one was not aware that there are filters that need to be cleaned on a dishwasher. After doing some research it appears there are multiple layers to get to the filter and all can over time get food buildup etc. Now here is a quick guide on how I was able to clean up a recent dishwasher.
This is part 1 of 2 in this section we were able to take apart the dishwasher and soak/clean up the filter and parts. As you can see from the pictures below it was quite filthy! I chose to soak the parts in Bleach to kill the germs and scrubbed off the parts. In the second part of this series we will put the dishwasher back together and test it out.
Pictures of taking the dishwasher apart to clean. Please note your dishwasher may be different so if it’s not the same as this one please consult the owners manual.

Come back for part 2 tomorrow as I clean and disinfect all the parts. We’ll put the dishwasher back together and have a clean working machine. Now after doing this I can easily suggest you do this at least once a month.
